Description

Octopus introduces the young reader to a remarkable member of the ocean world and demonstrates how creatures fight not only for their own survival bur for the continuance of the life cycle in their offspring.

Excerpts

The book...
Alert to the smells of danger she sensed through her skin, the female octopus crept spider-like over the bottom of the sea. She was searching for a safe den in which to lay her eggs. Reaching into a crevice, she tasted and touched the moray eel - a creature that made her arm recoil in terror. The octopus turned pale, jetted backward and shot out a powerful squirt of water through her siphon. But it was too late; the eel's needle sharp teeth ripped her arm.
